IAMAO son graduates Summa Cum Laude
Daniel Ledda Bryan Garcia, graduated as class Valedictorian with Honours, as well as with Distinction (Summa Cum Laude) from McMaster University with a degree in Kinesiology last summer. Daniel is the son of IAMAO 1st VP – External Affairs Edan Garcia and Vivian Garcia.

Growing up, Daniel had an active childhood, participating in swimming programs, playing soccer, tennis, and baseball. However, his love for hockey persisted throughout his adolescent years where he played ‘A’ and ‘AA’ hockey in the Greater Toronto Hockey League for 7 years.
Throughout secondary school, he attended St. Michael’s College School, the all-boys Catholic private institution located at the heart of Toronto. Here, he played football, and was an active member of the musical arts community. Learning to play the flute, his talents allowed him to represent St. Michael’s for 4 years at the Conference of Independent Schools Music Festival (CISMF) putting together an annual performance at down town Toronto’s own Roy Thompson Hall. Upon completing his high school career, Daniel was a recipient of the Basilian Book Award for each academic year, achieving an average of at least 90%. Furthermore, as part of becoming a well-rounded St. Michael’s Man, he worked toward receiving his Bronze and Silver Duke of Edinburgh Award aimed at promoting personal development and community involvement. He received the Graduation Music Award for excelling in the school’s music program.
During summer months, Daniel and his younger brother Ryan, were active in Camp Trillium, a childhood cancer support centre. Growing up with the leadership and internship programs, he eventually became a part of the Senior Staff team aimed at promoting experiences to bring children with cancer and their families together. He continues to volunteer his time at the summer and year-round programs offered by Camp Trillium within the community.
After high school, Daniel attended McMaster University studying Kinesiology within the Faculty of Science. Throughout his undergraduate career, Daniel was part of his Kinesiology Society Council acting as the Fundraising Coordinator and Vice-President, aimed at promoting a sense community throughout the university’s student body. He was a member of the Deans’ Honour List for all four years. Continuing his studies, he is currently a graduate student of the Department of Kinesiology focusing on motor learning and control. Daniel is also funded by the National Sciences and Engineering Research Council (NSERC) of Canada as a recipient of the Canada Graduate Scholarship, awarded to personnel qualified to meet the needs of Canada’s knowledge economy. He aims to complete his Master’s next June and hopes to pursue a career in sport medicine and rehabilitation.
Daniel Garcia was born and raised in Toronto. His younger brother, Ryan, is currently in his third year at McMaster University studying Kinesiology.
